For years, it has been a dream of mine to write a book. I know, I know, thousands of writers have this dream, and never accomplish anything. However, recently I’ve begun pursuing this dream with a passion. Favorite authors of mine (such as Colleen Hoover and Jennifer L. Armentrout) have made it clear that publishing is a viable option. Indie authors are experiencing growing success. I’ve begun writing a lot more, and I have an entire notebook full of story ideas. I’ve got a little more life experience under my belt, as well as graphic design experience. Now, more than ever, seems like the prime time to truly pursue my dream to write and publish a book.
Where I’m at currently
At this point, I don’t have a title…or a cover…or more than 5,000 words. You have to start somewhere though, right? Once I’ve gained more traction, this page will feature my cover art (designed by yours truly), and you will also be able to read a summary of the book, as well as sample chapters. I will keep you updated on my progress on the book through blog posts (cover reveal, first chapter sample, when ARC’s become available, release date etc). My hope is to have published my first book by January 1, 2017. That gives me a year (eek), but I’m pretty optimistic!
Information for now
Currently, all I know is the genre, setting, and basic idea for the book. I’ve been on a New Adult binge lately with my reading, and it’s the genre I relate most to at this point in life, so my book will definitely fall underneath the New Adult genre. The setting will be New York City (cliché, I know) because who doesn’t love the Big Apple? The main plotline is about a girl who drops out of college to pursue her dream of writing and moves to NYC with her best friend (a theatre major). There, she experiences a life she could have never imagine, and falls in love with a quirky barista at a hole in the wall coffee shop. That’s about it at this point. Hopefully I’ll be able to provide a more in-depth summary within a few months.
